Salary Gap No Better When You’re CEO

Share

New data show the salary gap between men and women is no better the higher up you travel on the totem pole.  Female CEOs, lawyers and doctors earn a little more than $100k a  year — 25% less than their male counterparts, according to a new report by the Institute for Women’s Policy Research.  In all types of work, women earn 77 cents for every dollar a man earns.

Heidi Hartmann, President of IWPR, says, “the wage gap is present in virtually every occupation, and until we have equal pay laws that truly compel employers to change their practices, we will see women losing out not only in terfamilies into retirement.”

Here are the 5 highest paying jobs for women and weekly wages:

CEOs: $2,084
Pharmacists: $1,954
Lawyers: $1,934
Computer Managers: $1,788
Physicians and Surgeons: $1,550
