Wal-Mart Offers Cheaper Eyewear for Junior

The world’s biggest retailer says it wants to make kiddy eyewear more affordable. Wal-Mart just launched a program to bring down prices for its children’s eyeglasses, frames and contact lenses, all with the promise of saving customers $400 million during the next three years.
Frames and lenses for kids will be available for a combined total of $39. That’s $20 cheaper than before. There’s also a one-year replacement guarantee if the glasses get damaged. As for lenses, the retailer is teaming up with 1-800-Contacts to offer a 12% to 50% discount on a year’s stock of lenses for kids.
My parents could have really used this back in the 90s, when I started donning my $200 geek-chic frames, which coincidentally fell out my pocket and got run over by a car in a Sam’s Club (a division of Wal-Mart) parking lot a year later.
