Make Money in 15 Minutes
Real Simple Magazine celebrated its tenth anniversary today by throwing a big bash in Grand Central Station…which, by the way, is such a magnificent building. I rarely visit and am always awed by its grandeur.
The afternoon was filled with fun, free workshops and expert advice on all-things fashion, food, fitness and more.I spotted my instructors from Physique 57. There were even live performances from Broadway musical casts, like Hair.
I was also one of the lucky contributors to this spectacular event. Managing Editor Kristin Van Ogtrop (aka KVO, pictured next to me in the photo) invited me to give folks some easy, real and simple money tips. I decided to share my strategies for making money on the fly. For example, I talked about some quick phone calls you can make to your credit card company, your cable operator and insurance agents to convince them to give you lower rates. I’ve blogged about these ideas before.
The most tweeted about tip, as it turned out, was my advice to hit up Gazelle.com where you can sell your old and unwanted gadgets and gizmos from cell phones to ipods and computers. The most popular item getting turned in right now is the iPhone 3G, which can earn sellers anywhere from $150 to $250. The average transaction for all gadgets is about $100, according to the site. You can opt to get paid via check, paypal, gift cards or have your money donated to your favorite charity.
Congrats again to the Real Simple family on 10 impressive years. Here’s to another fabulous decade!
